PENAMPANG: Two local associations from Moyog, the Sehati Association and the Moyog Community Welfare Association Penampang, have expressed strong support and admiration for Datuk Ewon Benedick’s decision to resign from his position as Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDC) in order to champion Sabah’s 40% revenue entitlement and the full implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

In a joint statement, Chairman of the Sehati Association, Michael Fadillah Riao, and Chairman of the Moyog Community Welfare Association Penampang, Billy Jinawat, said the move reflected Datuk Ewon’s integrity, sincerity and steadfastness in defending the long-overlooked rights of the people of Sabah.

“This principled action demonstrates Datuk Ewon’s courage to place the interests of the people above position and power,” the statement read. “It is an inspiring example for all leaders to remain true to their responsibilities and to fight for justice for Sabah.”

The two associations further expressed hope that Datuk Ewon’s bold decision would reignite unity and awareness among Sabahans to continue demanding their rightful entitlements under the spirit of MA63.

“More importantly, this action brings renewed hope to the people of Sabah. We now see in Datuk Ewon Benedick a new generation of leadership, one that stands firmly at the forefront of the struggle for Sabah’s rights,” the statement concluded.
