MPS President Condemns Violence Against Enforcement Officers in Sandakan

SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS) President Walter Kenson has issued a strong condemnation following an incident of violence against enforcement officers by a group of illegal cigarette vendors in Batu 8, Sibuga Jaya, Sandakan yesterday.
In a statement, Walter expressed his outrage at the assault, describing such acts as unacceptable and emphasising that they will not be tolerated.
He highlighted the ongoing concerns for the safety and well-being of MPS officers who are diligently working to safeguard the community.
The President reaffirmed his support for the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), stating that they are investigating the incident thoroughly and that MPS will cooperate fully to ensure justice is served.
Walter also issued a reminder to the public that the sale of illegal cigarettes is a criminal offence and warned that strict action will be taken against offenders.
He reaffirmed MPS’s commitment to working with law enforcement agencies to combat illegal activities in the region.
Expressing gratitude for the community’s support, the President assured that MPS remains dedicated to making Sandakan a safe and prosperous place for all residents.
The incident has sparked calls for increased vigilance and cooperation between authorities and the public to tackle illegal trade and violence in the area.
