MPWS treats 61 Orphans and Youths to Ramadan Iftar

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 61 orphans and underprivileged youths enjoyed a special iftar organised by the Sabah Women’s Advisory Council (MPWS) at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Tuesday.

The event provided a platform for children from various institutions to connect with community leaders, fostering a spirit of unity and compassion during Ramadan.

Sabah’s Minister of Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing, Datuk Julita Majungki, emphasised that support for vulnerable groups should extend beyond seasonal events.

“We mustn’t only remember these children during certain months. They are integral to our community and deserve ongoing care, attention, and opportunities for a brighter future,” she stated.

Julita highlighted Sabah’s numerous ongoing programmes aimed at assisting orphans and vulnerable individuals, assuring that no one is left behind.

“Sabah is committed to supporting these groups through various initiatives,” she said. “However, there is always room to strengthen and expand engagement efforts, especially for children in need, including students in madrasahs, to ensure they continue to receive guidance and encouragement.”

The event was also attended by Haslina Ismail, Director of the Sabah Women’s Affairs Department (JHEWA), and Datuk Rosmawati Lasuki, CEO of SICC.
