PENAMPANG: Bodybuilding athlete from Brunei Darussalam, Muhammad Al-Akif Elias, once again proved his supremacy after successfully defending the Champion of Champions (COC) Over 70kg title at the Mr. Borneo Bodybuilding and Physique Championships 2025. The victory marked his second consecutive triumph, following his first win at the 2024 edition.

Representing King Of The Gym Brunei, the 31-year-old athlete described the achievement as a great blessing, attributing it to strict discipline, consistent training, and unwavering support from his team and family.

“I am truly grateful to be given the opportunity and strength to defend the COC Over 70kg Mr. Borneo title for the second consecutive year, having won it last year and again this year, 2025,” he said.

According to Muhammad Al-Akif, this year’s championship saw extremely intense competition, particularly from experienced athletes from Sabah, Sarawak and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), who came well prepared with outstanding physical conditioning.

“The competition this year was indeed very strong and challenging, but I continued to give my very best to defend the Mr. Borneo title that I hold,” he explained.

Despite his success on the international Borneo stage, Muhammad Al-Akif works in the private sector in Brunei Darussalam, demonstrating that professional commitments and high-performance sport can be balanced with the right discipline.

Commenting on his future plans, he did not rule out remaining active in the bodybuilding arena should he be blessed with good health and opportunities.

“If I am granted good health and fortune, my target in 2026 is to take part in any bodybuilding competitions that are organised, including Mr. Borneo 2026,” he said.

Muhammad Al-Akif Elias’s achievement has not only brought pride to King Of The Gym Brunei, but has also elevated the profile of Brunei Darussalam’s bodybuilding sport at the regional level, marking him as one of the athletes to watch ahead of the 2026 competition season.
