KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s construction sector marked a new milestone today with the grand opening of MyRoof Hub, the state’s first one-stop roofing solutions centre, at Plaza Ramayah in Penampang.

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, Datuk Ewon Benedick, who officiated the launch, praised the initiative as a significant step forward for the local construction industry.

“MyRoof Hub stands as Sabah’s first one-stop roofing solution hub, offering customers a clearer and more professional platform to explore and select roofing materials,” he said. “This showroom allows people to see, touch, and compare products, something our construction industry has long needed.”

Ewon congratulated founder Patrick Chiam and the team behind MyRoof Hub and Axtrada Group, noting that the concept reflects innovation and a commitment to enhancing customer experience.

He emphasised that roofing plays a critical role in building safety and durability.

“A dedicated hub such as this enables contractors, developers, and homeowners to make better-informed decisions. This directly contributes to improving building quality and reducing long-term maintenance issues,” he said.

According to Ewon, the initiative supports the Ministry’s focus on upgrading and modernising local industries, promoting SME innovation, strengthening supply chains, and encouraging the use of high-quality and sustainable building materials.

“The government fully welcomes and supports more private-sector initiatives that raise industry standards and bring long-term benefits to Sabah’s development landscape,” he added.

He also commended Axtrada Group’s two decades of contribution to the roofing and steel industry in Sabah.

“Axtrada’s 20 years of contribution is a testament to the company’s dedication, resilience, and long-term commitment to local development,” he said.

Ewon further encouraged more Sabah SMEs to innovate and invest in systems that strengthen their competitiveness.

“Greater collaboration between manufacturers, distributors, installers, and government agencies will continue to strengthen our construction ecosystem,” he said.
