PUTATAN: The National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future and development of Sabah’s youth.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dato' Dr. Johari Abdul, emphasised that NADI is no longer merely a centre for internet access, but has evolved into a conducive learning environment where young people can receive guidance, develop skills, and explore new career opportunities.

He highlighted the involvement of Sabah’s youth in programmes organised by NADI, such as the cyber security competition, participation in creative TVET initiatives, and the success of young entrepreneurs in the state who have developed local products through NADI’s entrepreneurship training. These achievements exemplify the significant impact NADI has made.

"These success stories demonstrate the immense potential of Sabah’s youth when given the right space, support, and suitable learning environments," he said during the Community Day (HBK) Programme at NADI Kampung Kopimpinan, Putatan.

This was his second engagement with the youth community in Sabah, following the "Kupi-Kupi Sama Speaker Bah!" session at NADI Bandar Putra, with another scheduled at NADI Dermaga.

During the community session, Tan Sri Johari also expressed his hope for NADI to grow as a major platform for training young people to understand democracy and the country’s decision-making processes.

As of September 2025, a total of 131 National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) are operational across Sabah, with a total investment of approximately RM210 million over five years.

Through initiatives such as the Parliament School Programme, Youth Parliament, and collaborations with the Malaysian National Academy (AKM), he is confident that NADI can serve as a centre for developing future leaders. He believes it will produce youth who are confident to voice their opinions, think critically, and represent society effectively.

He also stressed that youth development must strike a balance between technological mastery and the cultivation of personal values, digital ethics, and citizenship responsibilities.

This visit reinforces the confidence that ongoing collaboration between the government, agencies, and local communities will continue to empower Sabah’s youth through various programmes that are inclusive, relevant, and impactful in the long term.
