MATUNGGONG: Service delivery in the Matunggong Constituency which covers the highest number of villages in Sabah will be further enhanced with four new appointments to the Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM).

The area comprises 152 gazetted villages, with 147 Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK).

Matunggong Assemblywoman and Sabah Minister of Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing (KWKKR), Datuk Julita Majungki, said these additions bring the total number of UPPM members in the area to 12, strengthening the team’s capacity to coordinate tasks and serve the community more effectively.

She explained that the selection of personnel was based on the spirit of cooperation among the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) component parties to ensure smooth grassroots operations.

According to her, department heads and Community Development Leaders (PPM) are also empowered to coordinate and delegate duties to staff, ensuring responsibilities are executed in a more organised and efficient manner.

“All staff must perform their duties with a strong sense of responsibility in assisting the government to deliver services to the people, especially in ensuring preparedness at the grassroots level,” she said during the appointment ceremony here on Wednesday.

She also emphasised the importance of teamwork among staff and reminded everyone that no one should misuse their position to intimidate or pressure colleagues.

“Professional conduct and mutual respect must be the foundation to ensure that services to the people are delivered effectively,” she added.

Present at the event were Matunggong PPM Epson Kawahui; Assistant District Officer of Matunggong, Tinah Maralin; former Matunggong Assemblyman and Deputy Division Chief of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat), Sarapin Magana; as well as Political Secretary to the KWKKR Minister, Marius Masain.
