KENINGAU: Residents of Kampung Menggitom Baru now have access to a vital new facility with the completion of the village’s open multi-purpose hall, a space designed to serve as the heart of the community.
The hall, made possible through the continued efforts of Bingkor State Assemblyman, Datuk Robert Tawik @ Nordin, provides a much-needed venue for a wide range of activities including community gatherings, official ceremonies, cultural events, and religious functions.
Designed with flexibility in mind, the open-concept structure offers a welcoming and accessible space that encourages social interaction and fosters a stronger sense of unity among the more than 400 residents it serves.

Whether for village meetings, youth programmes, festive celebrations, or emergency coordination, the hall stands ready as a shared asset for all.
A recent site inspection led by N.40 Bingkor Community Development Leader (PPM), Junior Fred Vincent Marukau, together with staff from the Bingkor Assemblyman’s Office, was conducted to ensure the facility meets community standards and expectations in both quality and functionality.
The project forms part of a wider rural infrastructure development initiative under Datuk Robert’s leadership as Assistant Minister of Works, Sabah. His administration has been focused on delivering practical and people-centric infrastructure that improves daily life in remote areas.
“This open hall is more than just a physical structure, it’s a platform for building relationships, celebrating culture, and strengthening the identity of the community,” said Junior Fred during the visit.
“It reflects the government’s sincere commitment to listening to and addressing the needs of the people.”
The open hall at Kampung Menggitom stands as a testament to Robert’s vision of a more connected, inclusive, and resilient rural society, ensuring no community is left behind in the state’s ongoing development journey.
