NEW KOPI BLUES CLUSTER IN TAWAU

KOTA KINABALU: A new Covid-19 cluster has emerged in Tawau today known as the Kopi Blues cluster which has a cumulative total of 12 positive cases.

In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the index case of the cluster is a 46-year-old housewife from Kg Lorong Saddani, Batu 2.

"She tested positive through symptomatic screening on June 9 together with her child.

"Out of 20 test samples that have been taken through close and social contacts screening, 10 came back positive.

"Meanwhile, two test samples came back negative while the other six are still awaiting results," he said.

According to Masidi, the initial investigation found that all of the contacts have attended a meeting which was held at their family's house in Kg Kopi Blues Batu 2, for funeral and tahlil ceremonies on May 29.

"Close contact tracing and investigation of causes of infection are still being conducted," he added.
