Official Opening of the Daily Market, Sunset Deck KPD Avenue

KOTA KINABALU: The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry, Datuk Jamawi Jaafar, today officiated the opening of the Daily Market and the Sunset Deck at Koperasi Pembangunan Desa (KPD) Avenue here.

Also in attendance were the Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry I, Datuk Haji Ruslan Muharam; the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Datuk Leonard Stephen Poyong; the General Manager of KPD, Jamilah Lee; and members of the KPD Board of Directors. The opening ceremony was held at KPD Avenue.

Accompanied by his wife, Datin Zainatunnisa Ibrahim, Jamawi also took time to engage with vegetable traders operating at KPD Avenue.

He was further briefed by Jamilah on the progress and operations carried out by KPD, an agency under his ministry, throughout the year 2025.

When met by the media, Jamawi said that he was extremely satisfied with KPD’s sales performance for 2025, which he described as encouraging.

“This is an achievement that sends a clear signal to the public that the agricultural sector is capable of generating business profits if it is managed in a systematic and effective manner,” he said.
