PUTRAJAYA: The opposition has been urged to present their proposal to the government regarding the allocation for Members of Parliament (MPs) from the opposition block, stated Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Fadillah, who has been assigned the responsibility of discussing the proposed allocation with the opposition, provided an update on the progress of the discussions.
He emphasised that since the current government is a Unity Government and not the previous Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, it is imperative for the opposition to submit their proposal.
"We are still awaiting the opposition's proposal. They claim there is no need to submit a proposal, but they must be reminded that this is not the PH government. This is the Unity Government," Fadillah said.
He said this after chairing the Second National Mineral Council (MMN2) meeting on Monday as reported by Astro Awani.
Earlier on April 4, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had reiterated the government's willingness to provide opposition MPs with the same allocation as MPs from the government block.
Subsequently, on April 6, it was reported that three Perikatan Nasional (PN) MPs had been appointed to engage in discussions with Fadillah regarding the proposed allocation for opposition MPs.
Fadillah stressed that the submission of a proposal by the opposition is crucial to facilitate a smooth transition and ensure political stability.
