PMX Special Announcement Underscores Malaysia’s Strong Economic Fundamentals

KOTA KINABALU : The State Government views Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Special Announcement on easing the cost of living as a reflection of the country’s strong economic fundamentals under the Madani Government.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor said the State Government welcomes the people-focused initiatives, which are aimed at alleviating the financial burden faced by the rakyat.

“It clearly demonstrates that the Prime Minister has the welfare of the people at heart,” he said in a statement issued today.

Hajiji highlighted the RM100 one-off assistance for all Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above, to be used for purchasing basic necessities at 4,100 participating retail outlets, along with the expansion of the Rahmah Madani sales initiative to every state constituency, as meaningful support for the rakyat.

He also welcomed the targeted fuel subsidy initiative, which will reduce the price of RON95 petrol to RM1.99 per litre—expected to benefit over 18 million Malaysians, as a move that truly meets public expectations.

“The declaration of the eve of Malaysia Day (15 September) as a public holiday is a mark of the Federal Government’s recognition of this important occasion for the entire nation,” he added.
