SANDAKAN: Sabah Community Development Leader (PPM) Rizan Aziz visited a local authority enforcement officer who was reportedly assaulted by a smuggled cigarette seller at Batu 8 here recently.
During the visit, he extended a personal contribution to the victim while enquiring about his condition and listening to his account of the incident, which had gone viral on social media.
At the same time, Rizan proposed that the Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS) install CCTV cameras at strategic locations, including Batu 8.
“We propose the installation of CCTV cameras at all strategic areas in Batu 8, Batu 16, Batu 7, Batu 4 and the Sandakan town centre, as well as other locations that attract large crowds,” he said.
Elaborating further, he said the installation of CCTV cameras in strategic areas is essential as it would greatly assist the authorities.
“We also propose that the number of security personnel, such as police officers on duty, be increased, particularly in Batu 8 and other busy areas,” he added.
