KENINGAU: The Persatuan Kebudayaan dan Kebajikan Etnik Kujau Gana Nabai Sabah (KGNS) has agreed to strengthen its focus and define a clearer identity that reflects the values of the Kujau, Gana, and Nabai communities.

The decision was made during the KGNS Executive Management Meeting chaired by President Petronella Munting at Pexoholic Café, Bandar Baharu Keningau, on Saturday. Also present were Deputy President Hj Yazid Hj Mohd Hasnan Tawik Mansai @ Charles, Secretary-General Umah Munting, Treasurer-General Jovita Attap, and members of the executive committee.

Petronella said the move was aimed at ensuring that all programmes and activities carried out by KGNS truly represented the spirit and traditions of the three ethnic groups.

She said the strength of KGNS lay in its members’ unity and cultural awareness, which must be preserved amid modernisation.

“Through unity and cultural understanding, KGNS can become a respected organisation and a model for other ethnic associations in Sabah,” she said.

Deputy President Hj Yazid Hj Mohd Hasnan Tawik Mansai @ Charles called on members to remain united and to reject any form of division within the association.

He said more than 300 KGNS members across Sabah formed the core strength of the association and should continue to preserve their shared heritage.

“With unity and collective action, we can ensure that the younger generation does not forget their cultural roots,” he said.

KGNS represents the Kujau, Gana, and Nabai ethnic groups and continues to act as a bridge between generations, connecting traditional values with modern aspirations. The association aims to remain a symbol of unity, heritage, and welfare for Sabah’s interior communities.
