KOTA KINABALU: Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations serve not only as a platform to strengthen familial ties but also to bolster unity and a spirit of cooperation among Sabah's multi-ethnic population.
Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Sabah, Datuk Ewon Benedick, said the values of togetherness highlighted during the festivities must continue to be nurtured for the wellbeing of Sabahans.
He noted that, despite coming from diverse political, religious, and ethnic backgrounds, Sabahans should focus on their common goal: collective development of the state.

"We must learn from places outside Sabah where differences of opinion lead to conflict. In Sabah, we need to remain united and cooperative for stability and progress," he said.
Ewon was speaking at the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house hosted by the Sabah Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (MINDET) here yesterday.
He said the event reflected the strong spirit of unity and cooperation among ministry staff and its agencies.
He also expressed appreciation to former Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Sabah, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, for his contributions and achievements while leading the ministry.
"I value all the efforts and initiatives implemented, which form the foundation for the ministry's continued development," he added.
Over nearly five months at the helm, Datuk Ewon praised the solid cooperation shown by all parties, especially ministry staff and agencies, and urged it to continue.
"As civil servants, we must carry out our duties with integrity and deliver the best services to the people," he said.
He hoped such celebrations would continue to foster closer relationships, thereby strengthening unity and cooperation for Sabah's prosperity.
