KOTA KINABALU: Partners in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition in Sabah need to respect the democratic process and prioritise the challenges of the State Election (PRN), which can be held at any time.
The election of Datuk Ewon Benedick as the chairman of PH Sabah is based on the PH constitution.
In fact, the election of the previous PH chairman was conducted through a democratic process with the presence and agreement of all component parties.
The Youth wing of Pakatan Harapan Sabah (Angkatan Muda Harapan), comprising United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), DAP and Amanah, fully supports Datuk Ewon Benedick as the new Chairman of Pakatan Harapan Sabah.
In a joint statement by Felix Joseph Saang Chairman of Angkatan Muda Harapan (PH Youth) Sabah , Vivian Wong Chairwoman of DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) and Salleh Jatil Chairman of Amanah Youth Sabah they agreed that the PH constitution must be understood and accepted with an open mind so that more important issues in Sabah can be addressed effectively.
"Therefore, it is better for component parties to strengthen their machinery in preparation for the State Election (PRN), which may occur at any time within the next 10 months."
"We need to respect the component parties to ensure that harmony is not disrupted, as the strength of PH Sabah is the result of the political cooperation that has been established previously."
"The Youth of PH Sabah believes that the component partners are mature enough to make decisions, and the strong cooperation that has been built will continue to ensure that PH Sabah remains relevant in the eyes of the people."
