Sabah Agriculture’s Achievements Prove It Is on the Right Track

KOTA KINABALU: The achievements and strong commitment of the Sabah Department of Agriculture, is reflected in the various awards it received throughout the year. These achievements are attributed to the department’s integrity and professionalism in carrying out its duties.
Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry, Datuk Jamawi Jaafar, said the achievements were the result of the collective efforts of all members of the department, and demonstrated its capability in fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to it for the development of the state’s agricultural sector.
Jamawi expressed hope that the high level of commitment and professionalism shown by department personnel would be sustained in the future to ensure continued excellence.
He also urged all departments and agencies under the Ministry not to compete with one another, but instead to complement each other in achieving shared objectives.
He was speaking at the Sabah Department of Agriculture Agricultural Night 2025, which he officiated at the Grand Ballroom of the Magellan Sutera Resort here on Thursday night.
Jamawi further called for the direct involvement of all government departments and agencies, non-governmental organisations, industry players and the public in strengthening the implementation of food security initiatives in Sabah.
He also emphasised the empowerment of the Kebun Dapur (Kitchen Garden) initiative, which is set to be fully implemented next year, along with several other initiatives to be introduced.
Jamawi, accompanied by his wife Datin Zainatunnisa Ibrahim, mingled with members of the Ministry in attendance, including former directors.
Also present were Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Datuk Ruslan Muharam, Permanent Secretary Datuk Leonard Stephen Poyong, and Director of the Department of Agriculture Datuk Jifrin Hj Mohamad.
