KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor announced today that the State Cabinet has approved a salary adjustment for the state public service, to be implemented in two phases in accordance with the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), effective December 1.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim previously announced on August 16 that the SSPA will replace the Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM).

According to Hajiji, the salary adjustment will affect 21,228 public service personnel in the state, with the first phase commencing on December 1, 2024, and the second phase on January 1, 2026. The total allocation for this adjustment amounts to RM103,020,059.66.

Additionally, the State Cabinet has agreed to raise the wage rate for the state's daily part-time workers to a minimum of RM1,725 per month, along with enhancements to existing benefits, effective December 1.

This adjustment will impact 2,116 daily part-time workers, with a total cost of RM46,096,140.

"The overall allocation for the salary adjustments for both the state civil service and daily part-time workers is RM149,116,199.66," Hajiji stated.

He emphasised that this salary adjustment reflects the State Government's recognition of the contributions made by public service personnel and daily part-time workers towards the state's development agenda, while also addressing the rising cost of living.
