Sabah Covid-19 cases soar to 2,738

KOTA KINABALU: The number of Covid-19 cases in Sabah climbed to 2,738 new cases today, bringing the cumulative total of the statewide infection to 116,667.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said that the number of Covid-19 fatalities also continue to rise with 17 deaths recorded today in several districts in Sabah.
“Close contact screening continues to record the highest number of positive cases with 1,616 which is 59.02 per cent of the total daily cases.
"This was followed by symptomatic screening (654), cluster screening (172), targeted screening (76), and the rest in other categories,” he said in a statement today.
According to Masidi, out of the total daily cases today, 2,674 cases either had mild or no symptoms at all.
Masidi who is also the Covid-19 spokesperson for Sabah added that a total of 1,752 discharges were recorded today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 94,975.
The number of active cases now stands at 5,056 with 3,715 patients being treated in quarantine centres, 1,306 at hospitals, and the rest in temporary detention centres.
"To date, there are 162 patients currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit with 74 of them ventilated."
