SABAH COVID DAILY CASELOAD SHOOTS UP TO 202

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Covid-19 daily caseload has been expected to spike after showing no signs of slowing down for the past few days and today, a staggering total of 202 new cases were registered in the state.
In a press statement today, Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Masidi Manjun said new and existing clusters contributed the most number in new cases with 89, followed by close contact screening (79), symptomatic screening (26) and the rest in other categories.
Among the districts, Tawau recorded the highest number with 58, followed by Sandakan (46) which also recorded one fatality today, Kota Kinabalu (39), Lahad Datu (27), Keningau (12), Tuaran and Putatan (each with five), Kunak (four), Nabawan and Penampang (each with two), as well as Kota Belud and Kudat (each with one).
Aside from the green zones Beluran, Telupid, Kuala Penyu and Tongod, 11 other districts did not record any new cases, namely Papar, Kinabatangan, Semporna, Beaufort, Kalabakan, Ranau, Sipitang, Pitas, Tambunan, Tenom and Kota Marudu.
The latest addition has pushed Sabah cumulative total of Covid-19 infections to 56,367, while the number of active cases now stands at 886, said Masidi.
“A total of 286 of them are treated at hospitals, including 49 in the intensive care (ICU) and 18 requiring ventilator support. The other 600 are in the quarantine and low-risk treatment centres.
“A total of 85 patients have recovered and were discharged today, bringing the cumulative of statewide recoveries to 54,865.”
