As we approach the historic PRN17, Sabah finds itself at a crucial moment. A total of 596 candidates from 24 political parties will contest 73 seats in the State Legislative Assembly. United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) is standing in 25 of these constituencies. Naturally, Sabahans are now reflecting on which party and which individuals are most deserving of their trust when they cast their votes on 29 November 2025.
I would like to share why, in my view, voters should strongly consider supporting UPKO in this PRN17:
1. A Truly Local Party Led by Our Own
UPKO is an authentically local party, rooted in Sabah’s identity and aspirations. It is led by one of our own—Datuk Ewon Benedick—who understands the heartbeat of the people and the realities on the ground.
2. A Party of Integrity, Principle, and Sabah-Centred Courage
UPKO has consistently upheld ethics, integrity, and the courage to defend Sabah’s rights and welfare. On vital matters such as MA63 and Sabah’s 40% entitlement, UPKO has shown unwavering commitment. Datuk Ewon Benedick demonstrated this conviction when he resigned as a Federal Cabinet Minister and withdrew from PH—an act that underscored the principle of “Sabah First.” Titles, positions, and salaries are insignificant when compared with the dignity and sovereignty of our state.
3. Dynamic and Visionary Leadership
UPKO is strengthened by a dynamic, visionary, and dedicated leadership team, led firmly and responsibly by Datuk Ewon Benedick. This team is driven by genuine service and a long-term vision for Sabah’s future.
4. Thirty Years of Service to the People of Sabah
Since its establishment three decades ago, UPKO has introduced and implemented numerous programmes to uplift Sabahans, particularly indigenous communities, across various sectors. This long-standing commitment reflects UPKO’s deep connection with the people it serves.
Looking ahead, UPKO is determined to continue these initiatives while introducing new programmes to ensure that our indigenous communities and the wider population of Sabah achieve a sustainable, progressive, and resilient standard of living. The goal is clear: to protect and enhance the future of every Sabahan man and woman.
