SABAH RECORDS 129 CASES, ONE DEATH

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded a slight surge of Covid-19 positive cases with 129 cases, bringing the cumulative statewide infections to 52,595


Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun said one death in Kota Kinabalu was also recorded today.

The slight increase of number in cases today stemmed from the latest cluster in Nabawan known as the Sinsingon cluster.


Meanwhile, 61 cases stemmed from close contact screening while 46 cases were from new and existing clusters, 11 from symptomatic screening, and 11 from other categories.


Nabawan recorded the highest number of new cases with 29, followed by Keningau (22), Kota Kinabalu (20), Kalabakan (12), Sandakan (nine), Tawau and Kota Marudu (seven), Lahad Datu and Kinabatangan (five), Kudat (three), Penampang and Papar (two).


Meanwhile, Pitas, Beluran, Putatan, Semporna, Kota Belud and Tambunan each recorded one case.


A total of nine districts did not register new cases, namely Tuaran, Tenom, Beaufort, Telupid, Ranau, Sipitang, Kunak, Kuala Penyu and Tongod.

"A total of 132 patients have recovered from the disease and the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah now stands at 51,184.


"A total of 800 active cases are under treatment with 283 patients in the hospital, 509 in Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres, and eight in temporary detention centres," he said in a statement, today.


The number of patients in the intensive care unit is 38, including 13 of them ventilated," he said.
