SABAH RECORDS FOUR COVID-19 DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has been recording death cases for the past seven days and today the state continued to report four more deaths, bringing the total of state-wide fatalities to 163.


The unfortunate events took place in Sandakan Duchess of Kent Hospital, Semporna Hospital and Tawau Hospital, said Health Director-General Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah.


“The country’s 160th and 161st deaths were recorded in Sandakan Duchess of Kent Hospital, involving a 84-year-old woman and 83-year-old, both Malaysians and had history of hypertension, dyslipidaemia and diabetis.

“The 162nd was of a non-Malaysian woman aged 36 in Semporna Hospital. She had a history of tuberculosis,” he said in a virtual press conference, Tuesday.

“Another Malaysian man, 59, with a history of chronic kidney disease, succumbed to the infection in Tawau Hospital.”

According to Noor Hisham, a total of 101 Covid-19 patients are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit, with 32 of them needing ventilator support.

“Meanwhile, a total of 350 patients have recovered from Covid-19 to date. This is the highest number of recoveries since Malaysia was hit with the pandemic.

“This brings the total of nationwide recoveries to 11,372, or 67.4 per cent of recovery rates,” he stated.
