Sabah's Covid caseload sees slight drop - 776 compared to 913 yesterday

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today recorded 776 new Covid-19 cases, a slight drop of 137 cases compared to yesterday’s 913.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun stated that this brings the cumulative total of statewide infection to 82,620.

“Close contact screening still records the highest number of cases with 439 which is more than 50 per cent of the total daily infection. This is followed by symptomatic screening with 153 cases and cluster screening with 74.

“Besides that, targeted screening recorded 32 cases and other categories recorded 78 cases today,” he said in a statement.

He added that Kota Kinabalu continues to be the top district with the highest number of cases with 214, followed by Sandakan with 86 cases, Tawau (75), Penampang (61), Tuaran (58), and Papar (55).

“However, only Sipitang remains with zero cases, while all other districts in Sabah recorded new cases,” he stated.

According to Masidi a total of 81.04 per cent of the total cases showed either mild (285 cases) or no symptoms at all (344).

Meanwhile, Sabah reported 641 discharges, bringing the recovery tally to 75,905.

The number of active cases now stands at 3,795 with 761 receiving treatment at hospitals, 2,975 at quarantine centres and the rest in temporary detention centres or prisons.

There are 89 patients currently treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) with 26 of them requiring ventilator support.

“Unfortunately, eight fatalities were reported today with four in Kota Kinabalu and one each in Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu and Beaufort.
