KOTA KINABALU: The Honorary Secretary of the Sabah State Sepak Takraw Association, Suhaimi Abdullah, has described the conferment of State Honours on several of its Supreme Council members as a proud and meaningful recognition of their longstanding contributions to the sport.
He extended his highest congratulations and commendation to the recipients, who were honoured with the State of Sabah’s Meritorious Awards in acknowledgement of their service, commitment and outstanding efforts in elevating sepak takraw.
Among those recognised were Tuan Hj. Awang Dullah, Deputy President and recipient of the Companion of the Order of Kinabalu (ASDK); Ir Ts. Azwan Abdullah, Vice President and recipient of the Star of the Order of Kinabalu (BSK); Suhaimi himself, who received the BSK; as well as Supreme Council members Akhbar Hamdan and Idi bin Ladinda, both recipients of the BSK.

“This recognition from the Sabah State Government is a great honour and reflects the extraordinary achievements of Sabah in sepak takraw, both at national and international levels,” he said.
Suhaimi noted that the awards also symbolise the consistent excellence demonstrated by Sabah’s sepak takraw team, particularly in the women’s category, where the state has made history by sweeping all gold medals at the Malaysian Games (SUKMA) for more than a decade.
“This success has firmly positioned sepak takraw as one of the most illustrious sports in Sabah,” he added.
He expressed hope that the recognition would serve as a catalyst for further achievements and inspire continued efforts to elevate the sport to even greater heights.
