SANDAKAN: A blood donation campaign held on National Day at Sejati Walk Centre Court collected 153 pints of blood, marking a major success for the organisers.
The event, jointly organised by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Sandakan, Duchess of Kent Hospital (HDOK), and St. John Ambulance Malaysia (Sandakan Area), drew 178 registered donors. From early morning, queues had already formed before the campaign officially opened at 8:30 a.m. Donations continued steadily until closing at 2:50 p.m., with successful donors receiving goody bags in appreciation.
Alongside the blood drive, a pre-loved clothes collection also received encouraging support. All items were handed over to the Sabah Cheshire Home (Sandakan Branch).

Organisers said the campaign not only helped replenish the hospital’s blood supply but also extended compassion to those in need. They expressed gratitude to donors and urged more members of the public to participate in future community service activities.
Thanks were also extended to Sejati Walk for sponsoring the venue, as well as to sponsors of the goody bags, including Sazarice Sdn. Bhd., Prolific Quality Sdn. Bhd., YC Bersatu Biotech Sdn. Bhd., Perniagaan Sri Waja Sdn. Bhd., The Vida World Sdn. Bhd., The Chorus (Yamaha Music School), Chung Ying Confectionery & Food Products Sdn. Bhd., UP CASE Café, XOUL Pilates Studio, X Bunny Fitness Studio, Thai Gin Yao Mookata, V-Sunflower Trading, WEDRINK IJM & Bandar Sandakan, Sun Enterprise, and Restaurant Yum Yum 3, as well as several anonymous contributors.
