SMK Narinang alumni urged to venture into entrepreneurship

KOTA BELUD: The alumni of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Narinang is urged to play a more active role in the industrial and entrepreneurial sectors in Sabah, particularly in the Kadamaian area.
Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (MINDET), Datuk Ewon Benedick who is also Deputy Chief Minister III said he hoped the school’s alumni would seize available opportunities and become strategic partners in the government’s efforts to develop the people’s economy, especially at the rural community level.
“I hope the alumni of SMK Narinang will become part of Sabah’s industrial and entrepreneurial sectors, including here in Kadamaian,” he said.
He was speaking at the officiation of the Annual General Meeting of the SMK Narinang Alumni Association at the school hall here today.
Ewon, who is also the Kadamaian State Assemblyman (ADUN), said that the Kadamaian Development Master Plan 2020–2035, which he introduced, serves as a framework for the holistic development of the area, alongside the implementation of a new approach through the “Sabah First” policy at MINDET.
“At MINDET, my vision is to help more Sabahans earn an income, whether as business owners or as employees in the entrepreneurial and industrial sectors."
“I believe the alumni of SMK Narinang have great potential to become part of this ecosystem,” he said.
At the event, he also presented a contribution of RM3,000 to the SMK Narinang Alumni Association to support its administrative needs.
Afterwards, Ewon officiated the closing ceremony of the Under-12 Football Championship organised by Sekolah Rendah Adventist (SRA) Rangalau, Kadamaian.
“I am proud that missionary schools continue to carry out grassroots initiatives like this, which also attract participation from outside Kadamaian."
“As continued support, I have contributed RM5,000 to SRA Rangalau to equip the school with the necessary football sporting equipment."
“I will continue the provision of annual activity grants to all schools in the Kadamaian state constituency, as I have introduced and practised thus far,” he said.
At the ceremony, Ewon also presented additional prizes to the six teams that took part in the tournament.
