Special school celebrates Harvest Festival

PENAMPANG: The Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative (MEDC), Datuk Ewon Benedick, graced a Harvest Festival celebration by the Centre for Community-Based Rehabilitation (PPDK) here today.


During the event, he commended the tenacity and perseverance of parents and teachers who support children with special needs. He congratulated the organising committee, led by Selinah Santong.


"In today's celebration, I am pleased to announce a contribution of RM10,000 to the school from the parliamentary funds," he stated.


The Minister also mentioned that additional donations would be directed to PPDK, expressing hope that members of the public would generously support this noble cause.


Meanwhile, PPDK Supervisor Rosena Kopiton thanked the Minister, who is also the Penampang Member of Parliament, for his gracious presence at their event. She expressed gratitude for his generous donation to PPDK, which will be used to acquire learning tools for the children.


"They particularly enjoy playing with puzzles, as it engages their attention effectively," she remarked.


Rosena said that there are 56 registered children at PPDK who have conditions such as Down Syndrome, autism, and cerebral palsy, with over 30 actively participating in the daily programmes.


The Harvest Festival event held at the Sabah State Library Penampang was also attended by Datuk Donald Mojuntin the UPKO deputy president and community leaders in the region.
