SPM: SM Ken Hwa Keningau Records Encouraging Improvement

KENINGAU: Sekolah Menengah Ken Hwa Keningau has continued to register a significant improvement in performance after recording a 98.18 per cent pass rate in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, up from 96.44 per cent the previous year.

Even more notably, a total of 48 candidates achieved 5A and above, including one outstanding student who obtained 10As, reflecting a marked improvement in the school’s overall academic performance.

Its principal, Anthony Chong Yu Kiong, said the achievement was the result of a collective commitment from the school community, with strong support from the School Board of Management, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), alumni, the District Education Office and parents.

“A more focused and consistent approach in management and teaching has been among the key factors contributing to this improvement,” he said.

He added that although the School Average Grade (GPS) improved to 4.38 from 4.86 previously, the higher pass rate and increased number of high-achieving students demonstrate the effectiveness of the strategies implemented.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the School Board of Management, Peter Ma Kin Yee, commended the dedication of the principal, teachers and the determination of students, which drove the achievement.

He said the results proved that close collaboration between the school and the community could produce excellent outcomes, but emphasised that continued efforts were needed to further improve the GPS.

“This achievement provides a strong foundation for even greater success in the future,” he said.
