Starry Night Charity Dinner Shines Bright raising RM105,000 for Charity

KOTA KINABALU: The Starry Night Charity Dinner held at the Sabah Hakka Hall on Sunday evening dazzled with glamour, music, and generosity, raising RM105,000 for five local charities.


The event, supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment (KePKAS) and organised by LSF Trillion Star Events Sdn Bhd, featured four popular Hong Kong celebrities, actors Hugo Wong, 43, and Owen Cheung, 38, alongside actresses Elaine Yiu, 44, and Moon Lau, 36, the second runner-up of the 2013 Miss Hong Kong Pageant.


Guests in the 1,100-strong audience erupted in applause as the stars made a dramatic entrance on stage, captivating the crowd with lively performances that culminated in a powerful rendition of Red Sun, a modern Cantonese classic.

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Seri Christina Liew attended the dinner, which highlighted the close cultural ties and shared appreciation for performing arts between Malaysia and Hong Kong.


Organising Chairperson Datin Elaine Fong Yee Ling, in her speech, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all donors, sponsors, and supporters who contributed to the event’s success. She later presented donations totalling RM105,000 to five beneficiaries, including Sri Pritchard Old Folks Home, Starfish Malaysia Foundation, and the Sabah Society for the Deaf.


The evening also featured traditional and contemporary performances, including the Magunatip bamboo dance, a rousing 24 Festival Drums performance, interactive games between artistes and the audience, and a series of lucky draws.


Among those present were the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Datuk Josie Lai, Sabah Tourism Board Deputy CEO Tay Shu Lan (representing CEO Julinus Jeffery Jimit), Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) President Tan Sri T.C. Goh, as well as community leaders Tan Sri Paul Lim, Datuk Clement Yeh, and Datuk Li Su Fook.
