KUALA PENYU:The disbursementvof assistance amounting RM239,863,697.07 significant sum, to entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and cooperatives in Sabah marks a pivotal step.

Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative ( MEDC) Datuk Ewon Benedick said this reflected his aspiration following the responsibility bestowed upon him in his Ministry, that aimed to enhance the focus of their ministry and agencies on the untapped potential in Sabah and Sarawak.

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) State Harvest Festival Celebration today, he highlighted the successful outcomes achieved by their agencies over a year of fieldwork. They have significantly enhanced their services to identify entrepreneurs eligible for assistance.

He said, "Some of these entrepreneurs offer products and services that we can actively promote. Thanks to the grants and financing we have provided, many of them have thrived and expanded their businesses. In the past, they only had one store per person but through our engagement with them, several have now expanded to operate 2-3 additional outlets."

"Our goal is to nurture established entrepreneurs by providing support for the growth of their businesses, and to assist new entrepreneurs who are seeking services from the ministry. We are committed to sustaining and expanding this initiative," Ewon who is also UPKO President.

The first day of the Harvest Festival today was attended by residents and celebrants from all over the region and other districts in Sabah.

Vendors were also seen enjoying the presence of the crowds while promoting their offerings.
