PUTATAN: The Tanjung Keramat Economic Table initiative is seen as having the potential to drive the development of local entrepreneurs and traders, thereby strengthening the economy in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) area.
Tanjung Keramat representative; Shah Alfie Yahya, mentioned that this initiative was one of the core aspects of his previous manifesto, where it is viewed as a catalyst for the community and as a means to invigorate various industries.
According to him, in addition to fostering a competitive community in the fields of business and entrepreneurship, the Tanjung Keramat Economic Table plan can also create employment opportunities and boost Putatan’s economy in general.
“We in Tanjung Keramat are developing the Tanjung Keramat Economic Table initiative, through which we aim to provide greater support to small traders, micro-entrepreneurs, and local traders.
“This is so they can grow, increase their income, and strengthen our community’s economy.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all traders who are working with enthusiasm, as well as the residents who continue to support local traders,” he said.
He made these remarks after conducting a walkabout session to meet traders from Tanjung Keramat at the Aeropod Bazaar in Kota Kinabalu on Monday.
Commenting on the programme, Shah Alfie said that most of the traders he met were players in the food and beverage (F&B) industry, who use the bazaar platform to showcase their products.
“The Ramadan Bazaar is not just a place to buy iftar dishes, but also an important economic space for the local community.
“I am also informed that some of the traders here are local residents of Tanjung Keramat who are striving to supplement their income through small businesses throughout Ramadan,” he added.
He further explained that various initiatives within the Tanjung Keramat Economic Table will be highlighted, in addition to acting as facilitators for local traders to access business assistance provided by the Sabah State Government from time to time.
