KENINGAU: Two rural communities, Kampung Agudon and Kampung Ponindukan, have received meaningful contributions aimed at improving local infrastructure and fostering social harmony.
These contributions were accorded to them by Assemblyman Datuk Annuar Ayub Aman.
Representing Annuar at the handover was Zailani Abdullah, Development Officer for Mukim Patikang, who delivered the support on behalf of the Liawan Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM).
Kampung Agudon benefited from a contribution to assist with the maintenance of its suspension bridge, a key structure for local connectivity. The initiative will be carried out through a community-led gotong-royong effort, reinforcing the village’s commitment to collective responsibility and resilience.
Meanwhile, in Kampung Ponindukan, the contribution supported the official opening of the newly built Sto St. James the Apostle Church, a gesture that celebrates religious freedom and strengthens interfaith unity in the area.
A modest handover ceremony took place at the UPPM Liawan office, attended by local leaders and residents. Fredi Garou, Chair of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) in Kampung Agudon, expressed his sincere appreciation for the donation.
“This is more than just a contribution, it is the act of a leader who understands that a bridge represents not only a physical connection but also a symbol of safety, hope, and progress,” Fredi said.
Annuar, through UPPM Liawan, remains steadfast in his commitment to meeting the needs of rural communities, be they infrastructural, social, or spiritual.
He continues to stress that leadership must be visible and felt not only during election seasons, but especially when people are most in need.
