KIULU: Sabah is reaping the rewards of consistent and mature engagement with the Federal Government under the administration of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
GRS Information Chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said this positive momentum must be sustained to uphold the stability and maturity that have enabled Sabah to continue progressing steadily.
He noted that the achievements witnessed today are the result of five years of constructive dialogue and practical cooperation under GRS, efforts that have strengthened Sabah’s position in federal discussions and delivered tangible development benefits to the state.

“For the state and the federal government to move forward together, it takes two to tango,” he said, stressing that real progress can only be achieved when both sides act with mutual respect and share a common goal for the people’s well-being.
Speaking to constituents at Kampung Sinulihan here, the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Information Chief and Kiulu Assemblyman said that constructive politics is about finding balance, knowing when to speak firmly and when to engage meaningfully to achieve results.
He reminded that while political differences are natural in a democracy, Sabahans must not be swayed by divisive sentiments that portray collaboration as weakness or submission.
“We must be pragmatic. National policies are decided at the federal level, and Sabah must continue to play an active role in that space.
“Building bridges ensures our voice is heard and our needs are addressed — not walls that cut us off from progress,” he said.
Joniston also reaffirmed PBS’s unwavering commitment to educating the people on their rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), noting that the party’s consistent efforts have strengthened public understanding and awareness of Sabah’s constitutional standing.
“That is PBS’s greatest contribution , empowering the rakyat, helping them understand their rights while promoting unity and constructive participation,” he said.
He added that as progress continues to take shape, Sabah must preserve the spirit of continuity that has brought it this far.
“Sabah is moving in the right direction. This is not the time to start all over again,” Joniston said.
