PENAMPANG: The United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) is expanding its influence in Penampang with the establishment of a new branch in Kampung Sosopon Notorus Babagon. This follows the recent openings of branches in Kampung Sobong-Boliga and Kampung Tirig, Kibabaig.

The inauguration ceremony, held yesterday, was officiated by UPKO Deputy President Datuk Donald Mojuntin and celebrated the enrollment of 100 new members, led by Justin Francis, the newly appointed Chairman of UPKO Kg Sosopon Notorus.

In his opening remarks, Justin Francis expressed his enthusiasm for the new branch, highlighting UPKO's growing popularity and the exemplary leadership of its President, Datuk Ewon Benedick, who also serves as the Penampang Member of Parliament. He commended Ewon's dedication to personally visiting each kampung to understand and address the needs of the community.

In his keynote address, Datuk Donald Mojuntin reaffirmed UPKO's unwavering commitment to the welfare of the rakyat and the future of Sabah.

He affirmed the party's dedication and commitment in upholding the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and securing the 40% revenue entitlement for Sabah, as guaranteed by the Malaysian Constitution.

"UPKO is unwavering in its mission to ensure the well-being of our people and to secure a brighter future for our children. "

"We are committed not only to address immediate concerns and needs of the rakyat but also in advocating for Sabah's rights under MA63, including the 40% revenue share that is rightfully and constitutionally ours."

" UPKO will continue to help the Sabah government in its ongoing claim for the 40% revenue, without fear or favour, whilst expressing the need for unity among Sabahans to achieve this common and crucial goal." he stated.

The event also highlighted the strong community support for Donald, with many expressing their desire for him to represent UPKO as the candidate for Moyog.

This widespread support reflects the trust and confidence the people have in his leadership andhis dedication in serving the people in various capacities for over 30 years in Penampang.

The opening of the new branch not only witnessed the growing involvement of the youngergeneration and women in UPKO but also reinforces UPKO Penampang's commitment in grassroots engagements, community development, serving the people and championing their rights.

"UPKO Penampang will continue to open new branches and rejuvenate existing ones. I am heartened and excited because most of these come from requests by the grassroots in the many kampungs in Penampang. I think it is because the rakyat wants effective representation and effective leadership. They are fed up with rhetorics and unfulfilled promises."

"They want to join a political family that "walks the talk". UPKO continues to prove that through the efforts of Datuk Ewon, as the Penampang Member of Parliament.", Donald said.
