KAPAYAN: Datuk Jannie Lasimbang has continued her series of site visits across Kapayan to monitor the progress of various infrastructure projects aimed at improving public amenities and community facilities.
On Monday, she inspected the basketball court repair project at Grace Chapel Church, Beverly Hills Phase 3, as well as the slab repair works at Beverly Plaza. Both initiatives are designed to enhance recreational facilities for young people and ensure safer, more functional public spaces for residents.
Continuing her fieldwork today, Jannie visited several other ongoing projects, including the newly constructed pedestrian bridge (titian) at SK Bahang, road patching works at Kg. Tuntuluk Nosoob, and drainage repairs at Kapayan Ridge and Rumah Murah Kapayan. She also reviewed the roofing installation works at Kapayan Square, which are currently underway and expected to improve comfort for traders and visitors alike.

Jannie emphasised that urban planning in Kapayan is guided by the belief that development should simplify and improve daily life. As part of the rapidly growing Kota Kinabalu metropolitan area, Kapayan faces challenges common to urban centres, such as flooding, traffic congestion, and limited recreational spaces.
She highlighted that sustainable growth depends on practical and integrated planning, linking essential infrastructure such as drainage, roads, lighting, and pedestrian pathways into a cohesive system that truly serves the needs of the community.
“Good planning is not about launching mega-projects; it is about ensuring that every development, no matter how small, contributes to the safety, comfort, and dignity of our residents,” she said.
“These projects, though varied in scale and location, share a single goal, by to make daily life easier, safer, and more comfortable for the people of Kapayan. Infrastructure must serve the community, not burden it,” she added.
Jannie also extended her appreciation to the implementing agencies, contractors, and community representatives for their cooperation and dedication in ensuring that each project progresses smoothly and delivers the intended benefits to the people.
