KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan)'s relentless efforts to popularise the term "unity" must have inspired the Federal Government, said Warisan vice president Datuk Junz Wong.

This comes following Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's launch of the National Unity Policy on Monday.

Junz said, the whole country is aware that the term "unity" is synonymous with Warisan. The slogan 'In God we trust, Unite We Must' was inspired by Warisan President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.

"That is our message for Sabahans and Malaysians all along. This same Unity campaign caught the attention of Semenanjung Malaysia via the last Sabah election."

"Now even the Prime Minister who went all out to unseat Shafie is inspired," he said in a statement issued here, today.

Warisan has consistently maintained that unity is the way forward, and its message was also very clear during the last election, he stressed.

"We are here to build a nation, not a particular race or religion. Warisan under the leadership of Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal didn't just chant 'Unity' but instead, we practised, are practising, and will continue to practise it.

"We in Warisan preached Unity before the 2018 election. We practised unity when in power. And now when we are not in power, our struggle is still the same," he lamented.

"But the same cannot be said for Muhyiddin or his Perikatan Nasional coalition who came into power after engineering racial and religious chaos."
