KOTA KINABALU: Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) provided monetary assistance to thirty-one students today.

YBR is one of the agencies under the supervision of Datuk Ewon Benedick, the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative, who is also the Penampang Member of Parliament.

One of Ewon's key focus is the provision of education and welfare for students in Penampang.

During the ceremony, YBR’s Chairman Datuk Philip Benedict Lasimbang represented the foundation, while Ewon was represented by Jannie Lasimbang, the Kapayan State Assemblywoman.

The monetary contribution by YBR served as early assistance for students from Penampang who are pursuing their studies at public or private institutions of higher learning.

During the ceremony, the YBR Chairman presented RM500 assistance to university-bound recipients and RM300 to those entering Form Six.

The funds disbursed today amounted to RM15,300.

In his speech, Phillip emphasised that Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) is a Non-Profit Organisation dedicated to improving the socio-economic status of underprivileged Malaysians through community empowerment activities and education.

He stated that YBR is committed to assisting all citizens, irrespective of their race, religion, ethnicity, and qualifications, particularly those facing financial difficulties.

Phillip further shared his pride in announcing that YBR was recently honoured with the CSR Award Malaysia for being the Best Foundation in the Banking category for 2023. This notable achievement marks the foundation's third consecutive success, highlighting the dedication and enthusiasm of the YBR team in promoting education, improving the country's educational standards, and nurturing a society that is wise, creative, and professional in all aspects.

This accomplishment serves as evidence of YBR's team's dedication and enthusiasm in promoting education to enhance the country's educational standards and foster a wise, creative, and professional society in all aspects.

“I hope that this assistance will create opportunities for children to continue their learning journey with brilliance and excellence, enabling them to become individuals who bring pride and honor to their families in the future,” he said.

Also present during the event was Bryan Matasing, the Communication Chief of Penampang Parliament Service Center.
