SANDAKAN: A Youth Engagement and Asnaf Aid Presentation Programme was held at Kampung Sinar Harapan, Batu 24, here yesterday.
Former Gum-Gum Assemblyman Datuk Haji Zakaria Haji Mohd Edris JP officiated the programme which sought to strengthen ties between community leaders and young people while extending assistance to underprivileged (asnaf) families.
In his address, Zakaria highlighted the vital role of youth as the nation’s asset, stressing the need to guide them to remain competitive, disciplined, and actively involved in community development.
He also handed over food baskets to several Asnaf families as a show of care and concern for grassroots welfare.
Zakaria said such initiatives not only help ease the burden of those in need but also build stronger connections between leaders and the rural community.
