Zamboree promotes Friendship

SANDAKAN: The 9th Jamboree Anak Indonesia di Malaysia (JAIM) programme took place at Gilwell Nature Scout Park, Mile 4, Sandakan, over four days and three nights with the theme “Weaving Friendships, Celebrating Shared Culture.”
A total of 516 participants, who are also students from 42 Community Learning Centres (CLCs) across Sabah and the Sekolah Indonesia Kota Kinabalu (SIKK), took part in the 9th JAIM event.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Head of Sekolah Indonesia Kota Kinabalu (SIKK), Sahyuddin.

Also present were the Deputy Chief Commissioner of Scouts Sabah, Lawrence Tan; Head of the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division, Sandakan District Police Headquarters, ASP Mohd Farid Abdul Ghani; Technical Staff from the Indonesian National Police (Polri) under the Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia (KRI) in Tawau, Muliyawaty Syam; CLC Kota Kinabalu Liaison Coordinator (KP), Nasrullah Ali Fauzi; CLC Tawau Coordinator, Riky Riksmansyah; and Gilwell Scout Nature Park Sandakan representative, Bacho Tali, along with invited guests and contributors.
When met by the media, Sahyuddin said that the event was not only a scouting activity for children but also a platform to develop their potential, interests, talents, and character.
He added that it also aimed to strengthen the friendship between Indonesian and Malaysian students in Sabah.

Meanwhile, Lawrence said that the state’s Scouts movement welcomed the organisation of JAIM, as it instils scouting values similar to those promoted at state, national, and international levels.
