KOTA KINABALU: Of the total Covid-19 cases in Sabah today, 191 cases are children at the age of 5-year-old including 27 babies aged less than a year.

Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Masidi Manjun said that the number of daily cases in Sabah has increased to 2,298 new cases, with majority of the patients (1,457) are aged between 18 to 59-year-old.

He stated that this pushed the cumulative total of the statewide infection to 167,737.

“As of today, the number of Covid-19 deaths has dropped to 22 new cases, involving several districts throughout the state.

“The districts are Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Tawau, and Kudat with three death cases, Penampang, Semporna, Keningau and Kota Kinabalu (two), and one each in Tenom as well as Ranau.

“Of the total cases today, close contact screening contributes the highest number of cases with 1,294, followed by symptomatic screening (723), and cluster screening (56),” he said in a statement today.

“Currently, the number of cases in Category One and Two are 2,130, seven cases in Category Three, and two cases each in Category Four and Five,” he added.

Masidi who is also the Covid-19 spokesperson for Sabah said a total of 3,154 discharges were recorded today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 141,230.
