KOTA KINABALU: The Chief of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) Youth, Billy Joe Dominic, said that the decision of the Parliament to approve the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN) (Amendment) Bill 2023 is evidence of the success of the Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership.

He stated that the amendment to the LHDN Bill allows representatives from Sabah and Sarawak to be appointed as Board Members.

"It is one of the demands in the initial lawsuit filed by PH Sabah against the Federal Government.

"I am delighted that our efforts and the efforts of the people of Sabah to fight for Sabah's rights under the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63) have yielded significant results," he said in a statement today.

Previously, the PH Sabah leadership received various criticisms for their decision to withdraw the originating summons.

"Today, it is proven that the actions of PH Sabah were not just empty talk but based on facts, positive developments, and strong support from the federal government," he said.

Billy hopes that those who previously criticized the PH Sabah leadership will open their eyes and see the positive aspects.

"PH Sabah succeeded when they were only able to talk. 'Action talks louder'," he said.

He also congratulated UPKO President Datuk Ewon Benedick and all PH Sabah leaders for their dedication in fighting for the rights of the people of Sabah and Sarawak.

"Thank you also to the people of Sabah for giving trust and opportunities to PH to fight for Sabah's rights," he said.

Recently, the Parliament unanimously approved the LHDN (Amendment) Bill 2023 to allow representatives from the governments of Sabah and Sarawak to be appointed as Board Members of LHDN.

The bill, presented by Deputy Finance Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, was debated by 20 Members of Parliament, including Tuaran Member of Parliament Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau.
