COVID-19: 87 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH IN SABAH TODAY

KOTA KINABALU: The Covid-19 cases in Sabah slightly increased from 82 yesterday to 87 today, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 57,916 said Local Government and Housing Datuk Masidi Manjun.



Of the total, 51 were identified from close contacts, 18 from new and existing clusters, 14 from symptomatic screening, and four from other categories.


Kunak reported the highest number of new cases with 19, followed by Kota Kinabalu (17), Tawau (16), Sanadakan (15), Lahad Datu (eight), Kalabakan and Kinabatangan (three), Penampang (two), Kota Belud, Keningau, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort (one).


Besides Sipitang, Tambunan, Tenom, Kota Marudu, Pitas and Tongod which are now green zone other districts that did not record any new cases are Tuaran, Papar, Putatan, Telupid, Ranau, Nabawan, Semporna, Kudat and Beluran.


It was also reported one individual in Tawau has succumbed to the virus today.


"The number of active cases now stands at 836 with 288 of the patients at the hospitals, including 45 in the intensive care unit with 21 of them ventilated, 836 in the quarantine and low-risk treatment centres, and one in the temporary detention centre.


"The cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah is 56,494 to date, including an addition of 189 recoveries reported today," said Masidi in his statement.
