COVID-19: ANOTHER FUNERAL CLUSTER DETECTED, THIS TIME IN KOTA BELUD

KOTA KINABALU: A new Covid-19 cluster known as the Nahaba 2 in Kota Belud was registered today which stemmed from a funeral ceremony held on June 11.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said that the new cluster involves infection among the community.

“The index case is a 57-year-old man who had symptoms of fever before testing positive for Covid-19 in Kota Belud hospital on June 20.

"Following the case, 136 individuals including the index’s family members and close contacts have been screened.

“We have found that 26 individuals were tested positive including nine new cases bringing the cumulative total for this cluster to 27 cases,” he said in a statement today.

Masidi revealed that all positive cases have been referred to Kota Belud Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Kota Belud Quarantine centre.

Meanwhile, close contacts are directed to undergo their own self-quarantine at home as a safety measure.
