Covid-19 cases in Sabah rose to 818, two deaths

KOTA KINABALU: The number of Covid-19 cases in Sabah today has surge to 818, an increase of 106 cases compared to yesterday’s 712, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 79,470,


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said, two deaths were also recorded today with one each in Tawau and Papar.


Of the total, 364 were detected through close contact screening, while 204 were detected through cluster screening, 104 through targeted screening, 103 through symptomatic screening and 38 from other categories.


To date, 21 districts have been declared as red zones, four orange zone, two yellow zones and no green zone left.


"The number of active cases now stands at 3,486 with 651 being treated at hospitals, 2,414 in quarantine centres and 421 in temporary detention centres.


"The number of patients currently treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 71 with 19 requiring ventilator support," Masidi said in a statement.


As for recoveries, a total of 537 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 73,597.
