KOTA KINABALU: Two more new Covid-19 clusters have been registered in Sabah and today, the clusters are detected in Telupid, Beluran and Keningau.

In a statement today, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the Tembidong Bidong cluster is a community cluster recorded in Telupid and Beluran which has a cumulative total of 88 positive cases.

There are a total of 78 cases in Telupid while 10 cases were recorded in Beluran.

It was believed visiting activities during Aidiladha had triggered this cluster, he added.

"The index case is a 55-year-old woman who tested positive at Sandakan Hospital on July 19 after exhibiting symptoms such as cough and shortness of breath since July 17.

"The index case's husband also tested positive on the same day, followed by 18 close contacts two days after," he said, adding that 292 individuals have been screened so far.

Another cluster, a workplace cluster, was detected in Keningau and is known as the Jalan Patikang cluster.

According to Masidi, the index case is a 19-year-old clerk working for a heavy machinery company.

The index case underwent symptomatic screening on July 29 and on the same day, the index case's close contact also tested positive.

Close contact screening on the next day at the field also detected 12 more positive cases, he added.

"As of today, the cluster has 17 positive cases involving Mukim Patikang and Mukim Lingkudau in Keningau."
