Covid-19: Sabah records 1,982 new cases, 47 deaths


16 Sept 2021 By Wartawan Nabalu News KOTA KINABALU: The number of Covid-19 caseload in Sabah today has slightly dropped to 1,982, pushing the total statewide infections to 181,293. However, Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said that Sabah continues to record high casualties with 47 reported today in several districts in Sabah. “Tawau reported the highest number of death cases today with eight, followed by Sandakan (seven), Tuaran (six), Lahad Datu and Kota Kinabalu (five), Penampang (four), Keningau (three), Beaufort and Kudat (two) and one each in Putatan, Kalabakan, Pitas, Papar and Semporna,” he said in a statement today. Masidi stated that of the total daily cases today, close contacts still contribute to the highest number with 1,101 cases, followed by symptomatic individuals (701 cases), other categories (171 cases), and cluster screening (nine). "Of the total, 419 cases are classed in Category One, 1,452 cases in Category Two, eight cases each in Category Three, 5 cases in Category Four and Category Five,” he added. Meanwhile, Masidi said a total of 1,098 discharges were recorded today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries to 153,427. The number of active cases now stands at 4,364 with 2,720 patients being treated in quarantine centres, 1,541 at hospitals, 96 in temporary detention centres, and seven in private facilities. "To date, a total of 192 patients require critical care including 145 receiving treatment in the intensive care unit, 47 in open wards, and 62 ventilated."
