COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 157 NEW CASES, 65 FROM SINSINGON CLUSTER

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 157 new Covid-19 cases of which 65 of the cases were detected from the Sinsingon cluster in Nabawan.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said the infection from the cluster has spread to two more districts, with 38 in Keningau and 18 in Keningau.



Both of the districts recorded the highest number of new cases after Nabawan, followed by Sandakan with 14 cases, Lahad Datu (seven), Tawau (four), and Kalabakan (three).


A total of eight districts only registered one new case, namely Penampang, Papar, Putatan, Beluran, Semporna, Kota Belud, Tuaran, and Beaufort.


Meanwhile, Kota Marudu, Kinabatangan, Kudat, Pitas, Tambunan, Tenom, Telupid, Ranau, Sipitang, Kunak, Tongod, and Kuala Penyu - another district declared as a green zone after Tongod yesterday.


"The total cumulative of Covid-19 cases in Sabah now stands at 52,752. No death was recorded today," he said in a media statement today.



He added that a total of 178 patients have recovered today, bringing the statewide recovery toll to 51,362 as of 12pm, Feb 27.


"A total of 800 patients are receiving treatment with 263 in the hospitals, 529 in Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres, and eight in temporary detention centres.


"Thirty -seven patients who are currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) with 17 of them ventilated," said the minister who is also Sabah's Covid-19 spokesperson.
