COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 163 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered a total of 163 new Covid-19 cases, lower than yesterday’s 201 cases, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 67,541.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said two more deaths related to the virus were also reported today each one in Sandakan and Beaufort.


"Of the total cases, 95 cases were detected through close contact screening, while 37 were detected through cluster screening, 13 through targeted screening, 13 through symptomatic screening, and five from other categories," he said in a statement today.


Tawau recorded the highest number of cases with 37 followed by Kota Kinabalu (31), Kunak (22), Keningau (17), Kudat (15), Penampang (10), Lahad Datu (nine), Kalabakan (eight), Semporna and Kinabatangan (three), Sandakan, Tuaran and Kota Marudu (two), Papar and Bueafort (one).


Meanwhile, districts that did not record any new cases today are Tongod, Putatan, Kota Belud, Nabawan, Telupid, Tambunan, Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, Ranau, Pitas, Tenom and Beluran.


The number of active cases now stands at 1,687 with 474 treated at hospitals and 1,211 in quarantine centres.


"The number of patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 71 with 24 requiring ventilator support," he stated.


As for recoveries, a total of 241 discharges were reported today, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 64,973.
