COVID-19: SABAH RECORDS 207 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah today registered 207 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total of statewide infections to 62,244.


Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said two more deaths were also recorded, one each in Kunak and Lahad Datu.


"Of the total new cases, 117 cases were detected through close contact screening while 40 through cluster screening, 33 through symptomatic screening, nine through targeted screening and the rest from other categories.


"Eleven districts reported an increase in daily cases while eight districts saw a drop in numbers. Seven districts did not record new cases," he said in a statement today.


Sandakan recorded the highest number with 36 cases, followed by Tawau (28), Kunak (22), Kota Kinabalu (22), Penampang (17), Lahad Datu and Tuaran each with 12 cases, Kota Belud and Putatan each with 10 cases, Beaufort (nine), Kudat (seven), Sipitang (five), Semporna (four), Papar, Kinabatangan and Keningau (each with three cases), and Kalabakan, Kota Marudu, Tenom and Ranau each with one case.


"The number of active cases now stands at 1,482 with 472 individuals at hospitals, 1,008 in quarantine centres and two in temporary detention centres.


"A total of 224 patients have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the cumulative total of recoveries in Sabah to 59,746," said Masidi.
